Hi!

And welcome to the official blog of Jaxx Candles.  I started making my first (gel) candles in 2002 and quickly caught the candle bug.  I did a few craft shows, many gifts and my brother’s wedding.  I took a break for a while as I became a Mom and still worked full-time.  I mostly made gifts and toyed around with fun projects during that time.  Now three kids later (and still working my day job), I still have the passion and want to not only get into making candles again, but starting a business.  That business is Jaxx Candles.  I am researching to form an LLC and then I will have the legal means in place to produce and sell candles.  I will more than likely start online, then move to craft shows and hopefully other businesses to sell my products.   I also plan to launch www.jaxxcandles.com as a website to chat and learn, as well as provide a showcase for my candles.

I love talking about, researching, reading about, and making candles.  I enjoy everything about them and so I decided to start this blog to have an outlet for my excitement.  If anyone has an interest and wants to chime in, I will be happy to talk to other candle enthusiasts.   As the business gets underway I plan to record it all here and who knows, maybe one day it will be a history of the making of my candle dynasty.

I am excited to start this venture and anyone can feel free to tag along for the ride!  :-)

Candle Tip of the Week

How To Burn a Pillar Candle

- Always burn pillar candles on an appropriate plate or holder, as well as on a protected, non-combustible, heat-resistant surface.

- Pillar candles are designed to burn cleanly and evenly. If burned properly, the candle should self consume.

- Pillar candles need to burn 3 to 6 hours the first time they are burned. This will allow burning to the edge of the candle and will create an illuminating well. After that, burn for three to four hours at a time. This process allows for an accumulation of heat to melt across the surface of the candle and provide even burning throughout the life of the candle.
