Everyone loves the look of snowballs and they can add a whimsical look to your décor. This is a fun project for those cold winter months.

Supplies Needed:

* 1 pound general purpose white wax (pillar blend) OR purchase a round ball candle
* 1 round candle mold (if making the ball candle)
* 6” length of primed wick (if making the ball candle)
* 1 oz. Fragrance oil (optional)
* Baking tray
* Fork
* Egg Beater or Electric mixer (Note: These should be used for candle making only and not for food)

Step 1: Using a double boiler, heat the wax until melted (about 180 degrees F). (If purchasing your ball candle, go to Step 2) If adding fragrance, mix in and stir for two minutes. Take your round mold and place the wick inside and secure so it is straight. Fill your mold with the wax and allow to cool. Once completely cooled, gently remove your wax ball.

Step 2: Heat the leftover wax mixture until it is melted. When the wax cools and has a thin film on top, whip it with a fork until it looks light and fluffy.

Step 3: Now, you must work QUICKLY. The whipped wax will cool quickly and become hard and unmanageable. Apply the whipped wax to the outside of the ball candle with a fork. Cover the whole candle in this manner, holding the candle by the wick so that you can work on the entire candle at once.

Step 4: Keep adding more wax until you have a thick layer. If wax becomes too cool to work with, reheat and whip again. Then you can repeat this procedure to do a second coat, which will make the snowball fatter.

Step 5: Once you have the desired look, place the snowball candle on the tray until it has completely cooled.

For displaying, set your candle on a candle holder, so when it drips it won’t ruin any of your tables. If you do not have a candle holder, then you can use a small saucer plate.

Enjoy your new snowball candles!!

Candle Tip of the Week

Floating Candles

Floating candles can provide both a formal and informal setting for either a dinner party or a back yard picnic. Floating candles in a clear bowl creates an extra special lighting effect. Using distilled water eliminates mineral buildup on the side of crystal or glass, preserving its unique presentation of floating candles.
