They are made using a bright red color, which is one of the two main colors chosen for the project. All of the bottoms will be this bright red color.

The order was originally for between 50 to 75 but will more than likely be between 50 and 60. In working with the customer, I did a sample based on pictures sent to me and the colors of the party. It was decided to go with a red base for the cake portion with white frosting and pearl sprinkles in a blue/green color. We went with the pearls as opposed to regular sprinkles since pearls seem to fit the wedding motif. I will spend the next few weeks blogging the progress, so stop back to see how the project progresses. Here is the sample cupcake that was made:

Without people (customers, contacts, suppliers, vendors, etc) your business cannot survive. I am meeting tonight for some possible networking opportunities and am very excited. Networking is on the goal list for this year and I am finding you can find them in places you hadn’t even thought about. Here is hoping it is another step forward in expanding our presence.

It was a mold I bought last year but finally got around to trying and if I recall correctly, I bought it off of someone as opposed to a supplier website. Ok, no problem, but then the mold seemed very fragile. Just opening the top a bit to thread the wick through caused the mold to tear. Ok, silicone can be self-healing and so with a rubber band around it, it was ready for the first pour of wax. The mold worked fine (no leaks) but when I went to take the candle out, boy did it tear. Also, some small pieces of the mold tore as well. I have never had a mold behave this way. Which is a shame because it seems like an easy mold to work with, but the material is not very durable. So, with another rubber band wrapped around, tonight I did another test pour. It will be interesting to see how it works this time, but something tells me this mold may not last through many test pours. Stay tuned for the results!

Update: Well, the second pour did work, but the mold is practically split in half. And I wasn’t as happy with the end results as I had hoped. I think this mold may wind up being tossed. It was an interesting test, though!

The silicone material seems easy to work with and two of the molds were actually bigger than expected. I also like the fact that they came with wick holes. I don’t need a needle for these! I will be making and testing shaped candles for Spring/Summer. The molds are beach themed. They are going to be so fun to make! Stay tuned for the test results and pictures!

It is in the low 50s again today! And given the warmer temps you just can’t help to think Spring. Tonight I’ll be working on some orders, including a special order that I can’t wait to make. I will post it when ready, as it will be a new product offering in the near future, after all the testing.
